The Piesse Memorial Statue honours Mr Frederick H. Piesse who was a merchant, agriculturist and politician. His family mansion, Kobeelya, overlooked the town and he consciously assumed a 'big brother' role in local affairs, especially encouraging and assisting newcomers. Residents of Katanning commissioned sculptor PG Porcelli to design a larger-than-life bronze statue of him which was unveiled in 1916. It stands in the centre of Katanning.
